Designing Lips

Designing lips with botox and fillers using cannula needlesIt’s all about balance. With the passing of time, the supportive structures around the mouth cause our upper lip to almost disappear, especially when we smile. Most people immediately assume they should just fill the lips.  If your lips protrude while the scaffolding around the lip sags and appears deflated, you will have a disharmonious appearance. While a younger face can often get away with just filling the lips for fullness, the older lip often requires the scaffolding around it to be rejuvenated in order to support a fuller lip.

The overall proportions of your face including the proportions of upper lip to lower chin projection, cheeks, and the show of teeth when you smile, all must be taken into account.  If you have a gummy smile this too can be addressed with botox cosmetic.

Another common complaint is the down turning of the lower mouth corners.  A little filler in the corners of the mouth delicately placed for support can turn up the corners to a more horizontal plane.

At Skin Specifics we almost exclusively use Blunt tip cannulas for most of our injections, including the lips.  Our clients have reported almost no pain with the use of blunt cannula injection technique, and almost all have no bruising.
